The 12th Annual FunWithChalk(tm) Street Painting Festival took place on April 24 and 25, 2010, at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center Campus in Mission Viejo, California. Attended by thousands of people, the Festival featured the work of hundreds of Street Painters (Madonnari), both professional and aspiring. The Festival offered great food and beverage, entertainment, music, art workshops, and many different vendors selling a variety of merchandise and services. The FunWithChalk(tm) art workshops have evolved over the years into a unique and enduring fun-filled series of activities designed to stimulate the thousands of children who have attended over the years to work and think creatively in their lives.
Festival attendees were thrilled by the four performances of Internationally renowned artist Maestro Javier Alvarez Palomar, on stage, as he brought the images of Louis Armstrong and Jimi Hendrix to life on a 4' X 5' canvas, to music......in 9 minutes! Entertainment great Izzy Tooinsky brought to the stage his own special juggling and story-telling genius , wowing the crowds with his amazing talent and timing!
For the first time, FunWithChalk(tm) was held in collaboration with the City of Mission Viejo's 2nd annual Arts Alive program, which included many artists demonstrating and exhibiting their works, the Green Zone commemorating Earth Day, and Rachel's Challenge, a program designed to foster peace, good works, and character.
FunWithChalk(tm) is a project of the Creative Arts Productions Foundation, a non-profit organization created to emphasis the need for art in everyone's life, and to foster creativity in children. FunWithChalk(tm) is produced by an all-volunteer group of people who are dedicated to bringing the wonders and magic of Street Painting (a 400 year old art form) to the community. FunWithChalk(tm) has been the recipient of many honors, including those from Orange County, CA, the United States House of Representatives, and Capistrano Unified School District, to name a few.
